The Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO) is a leading rights-based organization dedicated to protecting the rights, dignity, and lives of the Chin people and other oppressed and marginalized communities in Myanmar. Since our founding in 1995, we have worked tirelessly to document human rights abuses, advocate for justice and accountability, and provide life-saving humanitarian assistance to those affected by conflict, persecution, and displacement.
CHRO holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), enabling us to use international human rights mechanisms to amplify the voices of the Chin people and other affected communities.
Our Approach
- Rights-based: All programs uphold internationally recognized human rights standards.
- Survivor-centered: We prioritize the dignity, safety, and voice of victims and affected communities.
- Evidence-driven: Our documentation adheres to strict data collection and verification practices to support advocacy and legal processes.
- Locally led and globally connected: We work from Chin State and other conflict-affected areas in Myanmar while engaging international partners to amplify impact.
